Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tally Counter (the “App”), developed by GeniusCodeLap (“we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use the App.
1. Information stored locally on your device
The App stores counter data, saved counters, folders, preferences, theme settings, sound and vibration settings, and other app settings locally on your device. This information is used to provide the App’s features and is not sent to us by the App unless you choose a feature that requires network access.
The App may also store your chosen display name locally for use in Group Counting.
2. Group Counting information
If you use Group Counting, the App uses Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Authentication to provide real-time synchronization. The following information may be stored in Firebase:
- Anonymous Firebase user identifier.
- Group name and group identifier.
- Your Group Counting display name.
- Your personal contribution to the group count.
- The shared group total, target, member status, and timestamps.
- Invite codes and group membership indexes.
- Join requests, approval status, and online presence while viewing a group counter.
Other group members may see your group display name, personal contribution, membership status, and related group information. Group owners may approve, reject, or remove members according to the group’s controls.
Firebase processes this information on our behalf. Firebase’s handling of information is also subject to Google’s policies and Firebase’s terms. Group data may be processed on servers located outside your country.
3. Camera and QR codes
The App requests camera access only when you choose to scan a Group Counting QR code. The camera is used to read the QR code and extract an invite link or invite code.
The App does not intentionally record, store, or upload camera images or video. QR code contents are processed to validate and open the associated group invite. You can deny camera access and continue using the rest of the App, including code-based joining.
4. Internet access
The App uses internet access for features that require network communication, including Group Counting, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database, group invite links, hosting pages, and Google Play purchase-related services.
5. Purchases
The App may offer a one-time Pro purchase through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card number or other payment credentials. Payments are processed by Google Play, and Google may process purchase and transaction information under its own privacy policy and terms.
The App receives purchase status information needed to unlock and restore the Pro feature.
6. Notifications, sound, and vibration
The App may use sound and vibration when you enable those preferences. If enabled by you, the App may request notification permission for supported notification features. Notifications are controlled by your device settings and App settings.
7. Analytics and advertising
The current App implementation does not intentionally include advertising or a third-party advertising identifier, and it does not intentionally use an analytics SDK to track you across other apps or websites. This statement should be updated if advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or another data-collection SDK is added in a future release.
8. Sharing and external links
When you choose to share a group link, group code, QR image, feedback message, or other content, Android opens the sharing application selected by you. Information you share is then handled by that application and its provider.
Group invite web pages are hosted through Firebase Hosting. Opening an invite link may connect to that hosting service and, when supported, open Tally Counter.
9. Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the App’s data, uninstall the App, or use an App feature that removes it.
Group data remains in Firebase while the group and its records are retained. A group owner can delete a group for all members. When a member leaves or is removed, the App may retain the member’s name and final contribution as a former-member record so the group’s historical total remains understandable.
You may request deletion of personal information associated with Group Counting by contacting us. Some information may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or an auditable group history.
10. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the App’s design. No electronic storage or transmission system is completely secure. Group invite codes and links should be treated as shareable access credentials; do not share them with people you do not want to join the group.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features or data practices change. The updated policy will include a new effective date. Continued use of the App after an update means that the updated policy applies to your use of the App.
